Everything on this page is gear I actually own and use. No sponsored placements, no paid reviews — just the stuff that’s on my mat, in my bag, or on my phone when I play.
Launch Monitor
Rapsodo MLM2Pro — This is the centerpiece of my garage setup. Dual cameras + Doppler radar, 15 data points per shot, works with an iPhone. I’ve used TrackMan and Foresight in fitting bays — they’re extraordinary machines. The Rapsodo is what a real person with a real budget can actually own. Accuracy on irons is within a few hundred RPM of the GC3. Driver distance is typically within 3 yards of TrackMan. For a 16-handicap hitting balls on a Tuesday morning, that’s more than enough. Buy it here — I’m a Rapsodo ambassador, so this is my referral link.
RPT Golf Balls (for spin data)
To get accurate spin data from the MLM2Pro, you need RPT balls — they have a printed pattern the camera reads. These are the same balls you already know, just with a different exterior print.
- Titleist Pro V1 RPT — $69.99/dozen, available on Rapsodo’s site
- Titleist Pro V1x RPT — $69.99/dozen
- Callaway Chrome Soft RPT — also on Rapsodo’s site
Practice Setup
- Golf Hitting Mat — I practice in my garage on a hitting mat. A thick one matters — your joints will thank you after a thousand swings.
Golf Balls I Actually Play
For regular rounds I rotate through a few depending on the situation:
- Srixon Q-Star Tour — My go-to for rounds I care about. Best value urethane ball in golf, full stop.
- Titleist Pro V1 — For special occasions. They feel exactly as good as everyone says.
- Found balls — For everything else. If you play 20 rounds a year, you accumulate them fast. No shame.
