Can a 73-year-old shoot his age? That’s the hook behind “Can a Masters Legend Shoot His Age?”, a Bogey2Putt challenge video featuring Clay Long, the designer behind Jack Nicklaus’ 1986 Masters-winning putter, playing 18 holes at Shadowridge Golf Club. I handled the edit on this one.
The Project
Shot on a GoPro Hero 9, this video follows Clay Long’s round in real time as he chases “the age gap”, plus a first look at his prototype wedge, “The Porcupine,” and stories from his decades designing for MacGregor, Cobra, TaylorMade, and Arnold Palmer. My job was turning raw GoPro footage and an 18-hole round into a tight, watchable challenge format: building tension hole by hole, cutting in the prototype reveal at the right beat, and keeping the pace up over what could’ve easily been a slow round-by-round recap.
The Edit, Not Just the Footage
Challenge-format golf content lives or dies in the edit. The shots are simple, a guy playing golf, so the story has to come from pacing, chapter breaks, and knowing which holes to linger on and which to cut through. That’s the part I focused on here.
