Wyndham Clark is a U.S. Open champion for the second time. Clark closed out the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills with a wire-to-wire win, the first of its kind since 2014, finishing at 4-under for the championship and edging Sam Burns by a single stroke.

It wasn’t easy. Clark carried a 6-shot lead into Sunday, then shot 3-over on a brutal final round as Shinnecock’s rough and firm greens bit back. Burns nearly stole it, charging from 7 back with a final-round 67 (3-under), but came up one shot short. Clark’s second U.S. Open title (he also won in 2023) was worth $4.5 million.

It’s now two U.S. Opens in four years for Clark, and a reminder of how quickly a major can swing – a 6-shot cushion nearly disappeared in four hours at one of golf’s toughest courses.
